Map of Middle Earth

Here is a map of Middle Earth. Often times I find myself transfixed at the detail of this beautiful land. I will often look at the Shire, and then go through Bree, Rivendell, Moria, Lothlorien all the way to Mordor. It just amazes me all the time, this fantasy world of Tolkien's!

I am glad that I'm not the only one that has read LOTR uncountable times. Also that someone else will enjoy this blog!

Ah, the maps are amazing! What I always found most intriguing about Tolkien's work is the fullness of the backstory he created to his work. The realistic geography, the history, the religion and poetic traditions, the languages. Middle-earth has a depth to it that gives it a feeling of reality, even though it was the product of Tolkien's imagination, informed by his study of both classical Greek and Norse literature.
